Is your site ready for a biometric installation?

Prepare the check-in location.

Choose a point people can reach comfortably without blocking an entrance. Share photos with the installer, including nearby power points, network access and lighting conditions.

Power and connection.

Identify the planned supply, cable route and network connection. If an existing network is managed by another team, agree responsibilities for the connection and required settings before the visit.

People and attendance settings.

Prepare employee identifiers, shift definitions, holiday rules and the administrator who will manage enrolment. Confirm a process for missed punches and authorised corrections. Keep employee and biometric data in approved systems; do not send it in a general website enquiry.

For door access, check the whole doorway.

The door, lock, closer, reader, controller, exit arrangement and emergency release need a coordinated scope. Share the number of doors and how each should operate so the team can assess the hardware and site requirements.

Agree a handover checklist.

• An authorised user can perform the agreed verification.
• The administrator can enrol and manage users.
• Records reach the software and the required report can be reviewed.
• Door entry and exit work as agreed where access control is included.
• Support contacts, backup responsibility and service scope are documented.
